rednote started as a photo-and-text community. While competing with Douyin in short-form vertical video, we also saw room for something different: long-form landscape video—a better fit for the deeper content and conversations already happening on rednote.

As the lead and sole designer, I started with a blueprint for the full horizontal-video experience before designing a single feature. As new needs emerged, the work grew across three priorities: establishing the foundation, deepening immersion, and extending how people could explore and keep watching.
